PANDORA

METALS

PANDORA jewellery products are made from high quality materials, including sterling silver and 14k gold.

Pure silver is usually too soft for jewellery, meaning that it will scratch easily. It is therefore alloyed (mixed with other metals) to improve its durability. Sterling silver is the world’s most popular silver alloy.

Pure gold is a soft metal prone to scratching and wear; alloying it with other metals improves the durability, makes the gold more affordable and also makes different colour combinations possible. PANDORA gold jewellery is made from 14k yellow gold, while PANDORA two-tone jewellery is made from 14k yellow or rose gold and sterling silver.

Silver:
Sterling silver is the world’s most popular silver alloy. It consists of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals (mainly copper to improve durability) . It is excellent for jewellery because it preserves the colour, lustre and the heft of pure silver and vastly improves its durability. No nickel is added to PANDORA’s sterling silver alloy.

Oxidation: An oxidised finish is often used on sterling silver. The oxidation process imitates the natural tarnishing process, which will happen to all silver over time, and it leaves the sterling silver with a vintage looking grey finish

Plating: Plating is a surface coating with another metal which is done in order to change the appearance of the jewellery piece or to prevent it from tarnishing.

PANDORA uses black rhodium plating on select sterling silver pieces giving them an attractive dark finish.

Gold:
Gold: PANDORA gold jewellery is made from 14k gold.

PANDORA Rose:
PANDORA Rose products, which are available in select markets, are made from the unique PANDORA Rose metal blend. The metal blend consists mainly of copper and silver, and the products are encased in rose gold plating in order to prevent them from tarnishing and provide them with a warm pink lustre.
