We have an exciting 12 month fixed term contract role (maternity cover) available, reporting to Commercial Finance Manager. This role business partners with eCommerce (eCom) and Marketing teams. You will be assisting the teams to drive eComm and marketing business performance through accurate, reliable and insightful financial reporting and analysis, to aid commercial decision making & measure ROI. Core finance routines include month end, forecasting and annual budgeting processes, flagging risks and opportunities and extracting accurate data to provide meaningful analysis.

THE ROLE

Key Role Responsibilities:

Marketing

  • Business partner with Marketing director and Marketing team to track marketing spend and ensure costs are in line with budget/forecast
  • Calculate return on investment on marketing activities including promotions and events. Conduct pre and post media spend analysis
  • Review and monitor the marketing contribution
  • Compile all aspects of point of sale (POS) marketing spend flagging any risk and opportunities in spend
  • Innovate and work with new marketing tools/ models to calculate ROAS for TV and digital marketing spend
  • Adhoc analysis to guide marketing spend efficiently

Ecommerce

  • Business partner with Ecom team providing commercial finance insights and support to drive Ecom growth
  • Monitor and track OPEX spend including packaging, logistics and online platform fees
  • Analysis of KPI’s and other financial metrics, drawing on insights to help future decision making
  • Gross margin analysis
  • Identify risks & opportunities in top line revenue and OPEX

Budget/forecasting

  • Working closely with the Marketing, Ecom and FP&A teams to produce revenues and OPEX budgets/forecasts
  • Review and challenge Ecom sales and margin budgets/forecasts
  • Support with the balance sheet budgets/forecasts
  • Variance analysis and commentary
  • Improve and streamline the planning process

Month End Close

  • Prepare month end journals for the Shared Service Centre (SSC)
  • Prepare operational cost review for the team & challenge spend vs forecast
  • Conduct month end reviews with managing and finance directors (Calling out key messages/ drivers, variance analysis and implications to forecast/ budget)

THE CANDIDATE 

  • Qualified (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Advanced Excel skills (use of financial models, vlookup, hlookup, pivot tables etc)
  • Previous experience in a commercial environment, preferably within Retail (exposure to ecommerce and digital marketing would be highly advantageous)
  • Solid analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to challenge when required. Must have the ability to partner with all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver within strict deadlines and tight timelines
  • Excellent at multiple stakeholder management
  • Must be solution-focused
