The Manager, Merchandise Planning is responsible for delivering a best-in-class Omni channel consumer experience through the strategic management of assortment and inventory. The Manager, Merchandise Planning develops, executes and communicates strategic merchandise financial plans that support the company’s financial, product, and marketing objectives. This role will work to maximize sales and in-stocks, optimize inventory turn, and drive profitable growth across all US Channels and Merchandise categories. This position reports into an Omni Planning Director, leads a team of four planners and is responsible for meeting US revenue, inventory and margin goals as outlined in the financial budget

Pre-Season Planning
  • Partner with Manager of Business/Store Planning to develop the annual, tops-down merchandise plans for the division.
  • Oversee the creation of pre-season category middle out sales plan and item-level buys that align with product rankings, merchandising strategies and tops-down financial goals.
  • Support team in designing inventory strategies that balance the composition of new and base that support revenue, in-stock and turn objectives.
  • Manage US Open-to-Buy. Ensure that all channels and categories fit within the bounds of the receipt budget and allocated DC capacity.
  • Leverage historical data to identify key learnings around product, pricing, and inventory and apply learnings to future seasons.
In-Season Planning
  • Manage the team’s timely update of weekly category forecasts
  • Lead monthly Open-to-Buy activities for the US. Identify and execute near term actions to achieve sales goals and budgeted inventory EOMs.
  • Oversee in-season, category/item level forecasting and ad-hoc analysis to identify inventory-related risks and opportunities for chase. Ensure alignment with tops-down, monthly forecast.
  • Recommend US promotional strategies and end-of-life disposition. Ensure that actions maximize sales and margin while balancing inventory for TTL US as well as by channel.
  • Identify business trends that warrant analytical research to provide framework for teams to investigate.
Leadership & Collaboration
  • Play a leadership role in creating a people-first culture that is innovative, results-oriented, and that celebrates success.
  • Oversee the career and skill development of a team of Merchandise Planners with a focus on training, retention, building Merch Planning expertise and bench strength.
  • Play an active role in recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new team members.
  • Balance and prioritize team's workload to ensure they are set up for success while simultaneously meeting deadlines and proactively moving to the next.
  • Collaborate with cross-channel partners to create a seamless brand experience and ensure customer is at the center of everything we do.
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships with Channel leads, Finance and Operations teams.
  • Lead and participate in the development of scalable planning tools, processes, and reporting encouraging sharing of best-practices to ensure consistency.
  • Data driven individual with a curious, entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Minimum five years of experience in Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management
  • Proven ability to objectively interpret data and extract actionable insights that drive the business
  • Expert proficiency in retail math and deep experience managing a traditional open-to-buy
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; comfortable addressing all levels within an organization
  • Strong leadership capabilities, experience successfully managing team of four or more direct reports
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills, highly proficient at prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and provide quick turn detail
  • Competence to thrive in a constantly changing work environment
  • Bachelor's degree required
