Lab-grown diamonds

Pandora's lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced technology, and cut and polished by specialized craftspeople. Identical to mined diamonds in every way, our lab-grown diamonds offer exceptional quality, a known origin and a significantly lower carbon footprint.

Since August 2022, all Pandora Lab-Grown Diamonds have been grown, cut and polished using only renewable electricity and set in jewellery crafted from 100% recycled silver and gold.

Recreating the brilliance of nature, above ground

Lab-grown diamonds are crafted above ground with cutting-edge innovation to still bring the brilliance of nature. Each stone is optically, chemically, thermally and physically identical to a mined diamond, with a known origin and exceptional quality. They are grown and finished to the highest levels of precision with remarkable cut, colour and clarity - delivering the same sparkle and strength as a mined diamond but with a lower carbon footprint.

What is a lab-grown diamond?

A lab-grown diamond is a diamond made from pure carbon, formed under conditions that replicate the process of a diamond formed underground. Grown in a laboratory rather than mined from the earth, it shares the same physical properties, durability, and brilliance as a mined diamond.

The making of a lab-grown diamond

From a tiny diamond seed to a finished stone, each lab-grown diamond follows a precise, carefully monitored journey powered by innovation and renewable electricity. Using Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology, a rough diamond is grown in a laboratory and then cut and polished using the same techniques that are used for mined diamonds. The result is a diamond that is identical in structure and appearance - just created above ground, with a known origin.

Bringing carbon footprint transparency to our consumers

In 2026 we have introduced a new level of transparency to our Pandora Lab Grown Diamonds collection. We are sharing the carbon footprint of every lab grown diamond, alongside the traditional 4 Cs - cut, colour, clarity and carat.

“Today, people want jewellery that feels beautiful, meaningful and aligns with their values.

Berta de Pablos Barbier, President & CEO of Pandora

She continues, “By introducing a new measure of brilliance, the carbon footprint, we are giving consumers greater transparency about what they are wearing and how it’s made. Displayed alongside the traditional four ”Cs” (Cut, Colour, Clarity, and Carat) on our website, this fifth ‘C’ empowers people to choose diamonds that express who they are, without compromising on design, quality or self expression.”

Carbon footprint of our lab‑grown diamonds

For each piece of diamond jewellery, Pandora displays the carbon footprint of the total diamond carat weight, measured in kilograms of CO₂e (carbon dioxide equivalents).

The footprint is calculated using a life cycle assessment (cradle‑to‑gate) approach, covering all stages of diamond creation up to the point the stone leaves the diamond facility. This includes emissions from raw materials, diamond growing, cutting, and polishing. CO₂e reflects the combined climate impact of multiple greenhouse gases expressed as one comparable metric. To ensure a conservative and representative value, calculations are based on the highest supplier‑average footprint across Pandora’s lab‑grown diamond suppliers.

The product carbon footprint study was developed by external experts in line with recognised international standards and transparent methodologies. Raison Consulting provided oversight and quality assurance, while Impact Business Modelling Systems™ conducted the life cycle modelling and calculations.

The study follows ISO standards (ISO 14067, ISO 14040, ISO 14044) and has been independently verified through limited assurance by EY.

Powered by renewable electricity, crafted from recycled metals

Pandora's Lab-Grown diamonds are grown, cut and polished using 100% renewable electricity (1). They are set in jewellery crafted with 100% recycled silver and gold (2) - helping to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of our collections while maintaining the highest quality standards.

As a result, a one carat polished Pandora Lab Grown Diamond has carbon footprint of 12.58 kg CO₂e. This is around 90% lower than a mined diamond of the same size (based on a 2019 study by the Diamond Producers Association).

For further context, the carbon footprint of one of our flagship products, a 14k gold Pandora Infinite ring with a 1 carat lab-grown diamond is just 14.5 kg CO₂e - comparable to the carbon footprint of a pair of jeans (Carbonfact Jeans, April 2026).

(1) All suppliers use 100% renewable electricity for diamond growth, cutting, and polishing, supported by renewable energy certificates (RECs) or equivalent instruments in line with the market-based method of the GHG Protocol.

(2) Since August 2022, all Pandora Lab-Grown Diamonds have been grown, cut and polished using only renewable electricity and set in jewellery crafted from 100% recycled silver and gold. Select Pandora Infinite pieces crafted prior to this date were set with lab-grown diamonds grown using more than 60% renewable electricity on average and set in a mix of recycled and non-recycled silver and gold. Remaining inventory of these pieces are still available at certain locations.

Exceptional quality with known origin

Each Pandora Lab-Grown diamond is individually grown and finished to exact standards for cut, colour and clarity. We know the origin of our diamonds - bringing traceability and quality consistency to our consumers.

All suppliers of Pandora Lab-Grown Diamonds take part in our Responsible Sourcing Programme and adhere to strict ethical, social, and environmental requirements outlined in our policies.

A shift to man-made stones

Since 2021, Pandora has exclusively sourced lab-grown diamonds and other man-made stones. This reflects our ambition to reduce environmental impact, support responsible sourcing and expand the use of innovative, lower-carbon materials across our jewellery collections.

Diamonds for all who love

Pandora Lab Grown Diamonds radiate beauty from every facet. Our skilled artisans carefully grow, examine, cut and polish the stones to unleash maximum brilliance while honouring Pandora's quality and craftsmanship standards. Each diamond is then hand-set into designs rich with meaning, creating lab-grown diamond jewellery to wear today, and forever.
